The realities of moving from New Mexico, USA to a small town in southern Italy.

Happening town
Ascoli Piceno seems to have some event going on every week-end. When we were here for language school this summer it was the middle of the World Cup soccer and the local Quintana so there were many activities related to those events. Since we moved here in mid-September there has been something going on almost every week-end. Regularly scheduled activities include the 3rd week-end of each month Ascoli Piceno has a large antique market in the centro storico and there is Wednesday and Saturday mercato. In addition to these we have witnessed other events such as art exhibitions in the Palazzo dei Capitani, various military bands marching through, local craft shows, various charity booths, and now with Christmas in full swing there are almost daily events leading up to New Years Day.
Today we were strolling through Piazza del Popolo and there was a display of vintage Fiats and motorcycles to gawk at. Inside Palazzo dei Capitani there was a craft show and raffle covering three floors. The leukemia and diabetes associations were providing free testing and selling poinsettias as a fundraiser. As we sat in the piazza watching the people go by we heard a band and a group of folk dancers paraded into the piazza and put on a display of dancing as the crowd gathered around them.
This is truly a town to keep you entertained.
