To enroll at the language school we plan to go to in May in Le Marche they required a bank transfer. We have done this in the past for rental properties so were familiar with the process, doing this the first time can make you anxious.
As Americans the bank transfer seems like a high finance type of process, as we are used to just charging things by credit card. It seems that bank transfers are common in Italy but their use is beginning to diminish as credit card usage becomes more widely accepted.
So I was off to the bank with all of the needed bank information for the language school, made a calculated guess at what the conversion rate would be, paid the $37 fee and had the money sent across the sea to Italy. Now we will wait for the confirmation from the school that they have the money - I know it is no longer in our account.
