The realities of moving from New Mexico, USA to a small town in southern Italy.

Be Prepared
It started in early September - piles of firewood being deposited in different parts of town. Sometimes these are found in one of the adjacent parking areas and sometimes blocking a narrow street in the historic center. Before winter arrives many, people are stocking their cantinas with firewood.
We have gas available at every house in Trivigno but there is still a sizeable percentage who at least supplements their heating with a stove or fireplace. We also have a fireplace that we use periodically but not as our primary heating source. Fireplaces that heat hot water systems are also very popular and a common addition to renovations.
With the price of gas and electricity in Italy a truck load of good firewood is a reasonable investment.
