Ragazzi in DC

Giorgio e Fabio

We may have had record heat and humidity but our recent visitors from Italy enjoyed their brief visit to the Washington, DC area. The night they arrived it was hot and humid; we worked up a sweat well after dark walking around a few monuments. On the next day the temperature broke a record as we went from one air conditioned museum to another.

I first “met” Giorgio when he was an exchange student in the US and we had recently moved to Ascoli Piceno. Giorgio was born and raised in Ascoli and was writing a blog,”Un anno a stele e strisce”, about his experiences in America. At the same time I was writing about our experiences in Ascoli Piceno and Giorgio contacted me via email. We eventually met in Ascoli when he returned and we have become good friends with his family.

Giorgio will be attending a semester at UNC Greensboro. Before classes start he and a college friend, Fabio, are spending the last part of their summer break visiting the US. Fabio also has spent a year in the US as an exchange student and they have seen various parts of the country. We did have the opportunity to show them some new sights in the area and they were great sports considering the oppressive heat and humidity.
