Santa Maria di Castellebate
The contract on our present apartment expires at the end of January and the winter months are a slow period for tourism and real estate so we will be leaving Ascoli Piceno for the remainder of this winter. A friend has offered to allow us to house-sit a property of theirs in Santa Maria di Castellebate for a couple months. This seaside town is located just south of Agropoli in Campagna.
We have visited this area and this house before and look forward to some time to further explore the Cilento area. The weather forecasts also look more promising south as the winter here has been rather cloudy and damp this year.
It has been interesting the reaction we have had from friends and acquaintances here when we tell them of our move giu´, to the south. Those who originate from northern Italy tend to squint and ask “Perche´ giu´?”. Others have said that moving that far away from Ascoli will be like being in another world. Most are genuinely sorry to hear of our departure, even if temporary. Perhaps we will have a few visitors!?
The economic crisis has had an adverse effect on our finances and we hope to use this period to “slow the bleeding” and work on developing business for the rest of the year. The advantage of our businesses being largely internet and email based is we can continue to pursue that from any location which has a high-speed connection.
We will take the next few months to see what will develop in hopes that we can return to Ascoli Piceno. Speriamo!

How exciting! Can't wait to hear about living in the south. Buona fortuna!
Good luck with your move. I really hope you manage to get back to Ascoli soon
We look forward to the possibility of some warmer and sunnier days giu but we will surely be longing for Ascoli.
That's amazing! Ascoli won't be the same without you two. Have a safe move.
Good luck, guys!
We will certainly miss Ascoli but hope to be back before the summer. It is hard saying good-bye this week.
SOMETIMES GOD GIVES US A BREAK AND HAVING SOMEONE OFFER YOU THEIR HOME IS EXACTLY WHAT MAYBE NEEDED TO GIVE YOU TIME TO "STOP THE BLEEDING" GLEN AND I HAD TO PAY EURO 50 PER DAY, IN AGRITOURISMO APARTMENTS. AFTER THE HARVEST WE GOT AWAY FOR THE FIRST TIME FOR 60 DAYS. WE GOT LOST FOR 5 WEEKS IN FRANCE ALONE.WE NEVER MAKE A RESERVATION WE JUST KNOCK ON DOORS OF GITES OR FERIENWOHNUNGEN.
WE LEARNED THAT THE PEOPLE
WE STAY WITH ARE JUST LIKE US TRYING TO MAKE A LIVING AND COPING WITH FAMILY LOSSES + + +
I TRUST THAT WITH THIS MOVE BOTH YOU WILL LEARN AGAIN. IT TAKES TIME TO YOU GET OVER THAT SEPARATION ANXIETY. I LIKE WHAT THE DALAI LAMA SAID " ONCE A YEAR PUT YOURSELF IN A PLACE WHERE HAVE NEVER BEEN BEFORE AND DON'T KNOW THE LANGUAGE"
WE WILL KEEP YOU IN OUR PRAYERS. :)
THE OLSONS
GOD BLESS,
